About 5 days ago, the airbag light came on that has caused my cruise control, horn, and radio volume not work. I live in a very busy and congested city. I was almost run off the road twice because I don't have a horn that works to warn people to state in there lanes.
While driving slowly in a parking lot, looking for a space, the passenger side airbag deployed with a loud explosion that also shattered the windshield. There was no contact with anything. I had the car towed to the naples dealership and after testing concluded that there was a faulty sensor and suggested I call customer service. Chrysler customer service established a case number [redacted], sent it to special investigations unit and sent a person to inspect the car. About 2 weeks later I was informed that since the car was out of warranty Chrysler had no liability. We are having the seat belt and sensor replaced [about $2,000], the windshield replaced about $800 with some insurance recovery] and renting a car during the 7-10 days from now while parts are ordered and repairs made. Certainly I believe Chrysler should cover these costs. …
Tl* Takata recall. The contact owns a 2003 Chrysler 300m. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, the service light illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 15V567000 (electrical system) and 15V313000 (air bags). The parts needed for the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Our 2003 Chrysler 300m airbag light and DTC code p 0581 both went on approximately 3 months ago. P0581 indicates cruise control multi-function input a circuit high. The car has 38,000 miles. I spoke with a Chrysler dealer and was told the two occurrences indicated a bad 'airbag clock spring coil'. In my research I found there was a recall on Chrysler llc minivans for the same problem, also that there are many instances of this occurring in other Chrysler models. Because this seems a consistent problem with Chrysler llc vehicles, is there any investigation in progress? Also, the DTC code p0420 indicating 1/1 catalytic converter is not functioning properly. Chrysler llc seems to have problems with safety and emissions.
I own a 2002 300m Chrysler and on May 17, 2005 when leaving the dealership from receiving some maintenance work a driver of a Toyota 4runner t-boned the driver side of the car causing extensive damage and the car was totalled by the insurance company. My car was equiped with front and side air bags as indicated on the sales sticker, however all air bags failed to work in this accident situation. Had my side bags deployed I could have potentially prevented severe bruising to my left side, glass injected into my left arm and forhead area, and possibly prevented loss time from work, not to mention my pain and suffering due to the injuries. The police report has stated that the accident was due to the other driver failing to stop at a traffic signal.
While driving 35 MPH a deer ran out in front of the consumer's vehicle. The driver swerved to avoid hitting the animal then lost control and hit a tree. Upon impact the dual air bags did not deploy. Driver sustained a fractured arm.
My son was driving to college on the interstate and both the driver and passenger front air bags deployed. He did not have an accident, hit an animal or hit a pothole. There was no damage to the vehicle other than the airbags deploying. My son was not injured, he was still able to see the road and pulled over to the shoulder and called me to inform me what happened and ask what to do. As he was close to his college I told him to be careful but continue on to school, I would call his uncle who is a mechanic and then let him know what to do after his class was over. I called the insurance company and my brother. My brother said to have him drive it to his shop so he could look at it. The insurance company started a claim. …
I have been trying to get the air bag recall resolved on my car. I checked in September and again October 16 and told that they do not have replacement parts. When I go on the Chrysler web site for recall information, it says that parts are available. I feel that Chrysler, or the dealer, are not giving me top priority. In the mean time, I am at risk. I checked this out again today with the same result.
