While turning a corner my steering wheel turned one direction while my tires stayed straight. Also while driving down the highway at 45 miles an hour. My car went into the opposite lane almost head on into another vehicle when my wheels decided to turn back when I turned the steering wheel almost to the end of steering ratio. This car is going to end up killing someone. Then there will be a major law suit. I replaced the rack & pinion. Worked for about a month and now it is starting to do it again. Also replaced the tie rod ends. The bolts back out or become loose on the rack & pinion. Have had to tighten them on many occasions.
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 Chrysler 300m equipped with toyo proxes t1r tires (na), size: 245/45zr16 94w (na). The contact stated that the tread was separating from all four tires and there were cracks in each tire. The vehicle was taken to an independent tire store, but the cause of the failures could not be determined. The tires were not replaced. The vehicle manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the tires to a tire store. No further assistance was offered. The dot number and tire failure mileage were not provided. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 180,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 Chrysler 300m equipped with uniroyal, tire line: tiger paw, tire size: 225/55r1797j, and dot number: y900fpuu. The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH, the seal between the rim and the tire separated causing loss of air to the tire. It was unknown the location of the tire that failed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where an unknown repair was performed but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure tire and vehicle mileage were 128,000.
I have a 2000 Chrysler 300 m that has chrome/aluminum wheels. About 8 months ago I noticed that I was losing substantial pressure in my tires on a regular basis. Thinking this was a problem with the tires, I took the car back to the store where I purchased the tires. Upon inspection, the service technician pointed out that my rims were corroding from the inside and that this affected the bead on the tire and caused it to lose pressure. He indicated that this was a "big problem" for Chrysler cars and that the rims were "junk". I experience additional loss of pressure about every 5 weeks or so and have taken the car back to the tire dealer three times. Each time they point to the corrosion and their frustration with Chrysler not dealing the problem. After the last incident I contacted a local Chrysler dealer and spoke to one of their service technicians. …
I have been driving in fear for 5 years. I bought my Chrysler 2000 300m at laflam, runnemede, nj and have had it serviced only by mall Chrysler, mount laurel nj. My front tires (especially the right tire) go flat every 4-5 days. Goodyear has tried to fix them they have replaced the tires 2x. The problem persisted. Laflam and mall Chrysler will not help me. The 800 # customer service will not help me. The mechanic at mall suggested about 6 months ago to replace the rims. When I suggested this to all of the above no one would help me. I'm upset for two reasons 1)no one ever suggested the rims May be my problem all these years!! 2) I drive with caution and concern every time I get into the car. 3)no one at Chrysler cares that I have been driving in fear. I have never in my life ever dealt with a company that was this heartless! …
Complaint is with the alloy wheels on the 2000 Chrysler 300m sedan. The design of the alloy wheels apparently is open and is very prone to winter roadway salt which over time creates pitted areas on the wheels resulting in the loss of tire pressure. Over the past year or so, I have experienced this 4 times with pressures dropping to 10-25 lbs. The temporary fix suggested by the dealer is to have the pits ground down on the wheels (which I have had done to each wheel both at the dealer and at the tire company where I purchased the tires). The cost to replace the wheels at the dealer is $665 each!! I am very concerned about the safety of the car. The tires are 225/55 r 17 97h ch95 and it is difficult to determine if they are low on air by just looking at them. I worry about the tire air pressure dropping causing an accident on an expressway at high speeds. …
Over the past 3 years the tires on the vehicle go flat due to a defect in the chrome plated aluminum rims that came on the vehicle. The dealer has indicated to me that there is a problem with all rims of this type due to the fact that the chrome plating when put on an aluminum rim causes a reaction that causes the rims to corrode from the inside out. When the corrosion erupts along the bead area of the tire it breaks the seal and causes the tire to go flat. I have spoken to Chrysler directly and they claim that they are not aware of any such problem. However the new vehicles that have this type no longer use chrome but have a plastic chrome piece which is glued on to the aluminum rim. If this had not been a defect why would they have changed the design.
2000 chysler 300m. Myself and two neighbors have had this same problem numberous times this year. We are finding that the wheels are rusting/peeling and causing the seal on the tires to break, thus, causing constant flat tires. We've all had the wheels cleaned and re-sealed numerous times but feel this is a real safety hazard let alone a concern of owners finding flat tires all the time. Our dealer indicated no recalls have been made and that there were some problems with the manufacturer of the wheels. That's it....we'd love to have these wheels replaced at no cost to us since they are expensive. Any information would be greatly appreciated as to what we as owners (3) can do about this.
The wheels on the 2000 Chrysler 300m are chrome plated, which leads to slow leaks inside the wheel well. I have had to replace the tires twice due to abnormal wear and tear directly related the chrome issue. Also, the I must re-inflate the tires twice a week to ensure that the car is road-worthy. This has LED to multiple dangerous driving conditions and is a complete nuisance. I have had the wheels ground both times I replaced the tires to try and resolve the issue, but it persists and does not matter what type of tires I put on the car. There was no incident, and the problem seems to be a known issue among automotive people.
Dt: the tire rims will not hold air because the chrome plating pealed off the stainless rims. The consumer contacted the dealer, they said the consumer would have to replace them by himself. This started on August 24, 2004. Originally, the consumer thought a nail was in the tire. Took vehicle to the dealer and the service manager said it was a common complaint. Every other day had to fill up to 15 to 20 lbs of air.
