Issue Description: While driving during daylight hours, especially when the sun is positioned at a certain angle, I have observed an intense reflection from the dashboard onto the inside of the windshield. This reflection is bright and widespread, directly obstructing my field of vision and making it difficult to see the road ahead clearly. The glare is particularly noticeable on clear or sunny days and significantly increases the risk of an accident. This visibility issue appears to be related to the dashboard material and design, which may not adequately diffuse or absorb sunlight. I believe this condition may affect other drivers as well, potentially leading to widespread safety concerns. …
We leased this vehicle and within the first week of driving it we noticed that surface of the dashboard reflects in the windshield, severely impacting visibility. The problem is that the car has a grill which I believe is to vent air into the cabin. The design of it is very poor and the light reflects off it, severely impacting our ability to see other cars and pedestrians. In certain light conditions we do not feel safe to drive the car as. There have been multiple incidents that caused us to initiate an emergency brake because we could not see other vehicles. Upon researching online, there are hundreds of reports with thousands of people commenting. A company now even makes a dashboard mat to reduce the glare issue. …
Saturday it was very bright and the Sun reflected off the dashboard in this car and put an image of the dash board on the windshield obstructing my vision. It was very hard to see and a pedestrian seemed to pop out nowhere while driving in parking lot. I was either distracted by image of dashboard on windshield or it obstructed view by it either way it prevented me from seing the pedestrian clearly because theres an image of dashboard on the windshield. This seems very dangerous, this is my wife's car and I would hate for her to have to live with killing someone because of reflective dashboard. Hope there is something you can do as its gets bad when your driving down road at 70mph and can barley see out windshield all sudden but it was the close call with the pedestrian that finally motivated me to find someone that could possibly do something about it.
I recently purchased a 2025 Equinox EV LT1 vehicle. Overall, the vehicle is performing well and has a number of safety features that are helpful when driving. As others have also reported, the windshield glare on this vehicle is a weak spot, and without polarized sunglasses, the glare is often severe and distracting. At night, the use of sunglasses is of course not feasible, and occasional glare from headlights and streetlights can compromise the driver's ability to view the road and surroundings. Aftermarket dash covers are available, and that may be what I have to resort to to address the problem until/unless a recall or remedy is available from GM directly. This may seem more like an annoyance than a significant safety issue, but when you are unable to clearly view the environment around you when driving, it is a real problem.
There is severe glare across the entire windshield, caused by the highly reflective surface of the dashboard. This is making it hard to identify small and medium objects in the road such as small cars, bicyclists, pedestrians and street signs. I have noticed my visibility and reaction time is significantly impaired despite staying focused and attentive to my surroundings. It is always reproducible on sunny and partly sunny days; it is often reproducible on cloudy and overcast days. The dash is available for inspection. I've notified the dealership and am awaiting their response. There is no other way to know the problem exists until driving in sunny conditions which was first noticed one day after receiving the car from the dealership.
The car's dashboard has a patterned design (stripes or bars) which casts an extremely distracting glare onto the windshield. It is noticeable in all conditions, but in sunny conditions I have especially noticed this interferes with my ability to see the road and/or pedestrians. I had one incident where I was turning off a road and into a parking lot and nearly missed a pedestrian on the sidewalk because of this (in sunny weather). This is a well-known issue among Chevy Equinox EV owners, starting with the original 2024 model and continuing with the 2025 model. It is so much of an issue that third-party companies have started selling mats that sit on the dashboard to reduce the striped glare.
dashboard reflection on the windshield: When I am driving, the sun hit the dashboard and back up on the windshield , I see the dashboard on windshield make very hard to see on the road. The top of the dashboard has a mesh-like pattern that reflects sunlight onto the windshield. When the sun is out, this pattern becomes visible on the windshield, making it almost impossible to see the road ahead. Depending on the time of day, and the direction you are traveling, the glare is very very bad. It is so bad that it obstructed my vision, the majority of the time I couldn't even see it. Very unsafe at times - especially with any hills (even very small ones) or driving into light.
During the day a strong glair from the dash obscures the driver's ability to see out the front windshield. I have noticed this several times and on one occasion kept me from seeing a man walking on the side of the road until he was next to my front wheel. There were no indicators letting me know someone what in front of me from the vehicle. On other occasions I have had great difficulty seeing the roadway. I took the vehicle to Victory Chevrolet in Charlotte, NC, where I purchased it, and asked them if they had a solution and was told there were no known issues and they did not have a solution. They also stated that they would not be able to recreate the issue.
I recently purchased this EV, and I must express my concern regarding the level of reflective glare from the dashboard onto the windshield. This glare is not only unpleasant but also poses a serious safety risk, as it may obstructs to see pedestrians crossing the street, for instance. I believe this issue is significant enough to warrant a recall. Additionally, I do not feel comfortable relying on wearing sunglasses or glasses as a workaround for this problem. This is already becoming a major issue and is affecting my overall experience with the vehicle. I urge you to look into this matter urgently.
