What owners report
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front driver's side seat belt buckle failed to remain latched securely and independently unlatched. The "SRS" warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that on occasion, the driver's side seat belt buckle failed to unlatch, and excessive force was needed to depress the unlatch button on the seat belt assembly. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. Upon further investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign: 20V811000 (Seat Belts); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
We bought this truck from a dealer (used) and before delivery the driver seat belt recall was repaired as it was still open. Now, months later, the airbag light is on with a warning and it appears that the airbags are disabled. This started as an intermittent issue and now remains constant. Not only does the warning chime when the truck is started, it will chime at random while driving which is a distraction and a significant safety concern for our young adult driver. Our local Chevy dealer will not assess the issue for less than $300. Our mechanic told us that replacing the airbag is a minimum of $800 depending on the extent of the work. Given the prior airbag recalls impacting Chevy/GMC, I thought this is important to report in case others are seeing airbag warning issues in a more widespread issue. …
Seat belt buckle receiver occasionally does not "click" all the way and takes at times multiple attempts to connect. No light shows that it is disconnected. I've noticed it with both front seat belts receiver. Unknown with rear seats I've never sat in my vehicles backseats to confirm it there. Unknown if I can get them inspected upon request at my local dealer as they have not been the best with customer service. Seat belt not working correctly doesn't give me confidence in it in the event of a collision. Unknown if reproduced No inspection has been conducted as of the time of this report. Will move to get that done asap.
The driver side seat belt does not immediately latch when placed in the seat belt housing. To secure the seat belt the driver must keep placing the seat belt latch into the housing multiple times in order for the latch to secure. When brought to the attention of a local Chevrolet Service Center, their response was to pay >$400 to replace the seat belt housing (near the seat). The service center is Lamb Chevrolet in Prescott, Arizona.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the seat belt warning light illuminated while the seat was not occupied. While driving at various speeds, the engine overheated. The coolant reservoir was empty, but there was no indication of a leak. The fan was operational, but the vehicle continued to overheat. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact about the operation of the fan. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Seat belt cable broke between anchor on floor and first connection. Brought to chevrolet dealer and they said they haven't seen that before. Now I wonder if the other seat belts are defective. There was no previous warning
When I started my truck the red air bag warning light was on steady. I went to find out why the air bag light was on it was for the seat belt pre-tensioner. It was in a fault situation. It was giving 2 codes for this but was not told what they were. Upon closer examination it had 2 broken wires inside a rubber boot that leads from the extended cab rear door to the body. I was told this is very common for extended cabs as the wiring is to short and is pinched when the rear door opens and shuts. The wires eventually fail and cause the air bag system to go into a fault situation and no longer work. Also I was told that the other wires in the rubber boot will also eventually fail including the speaker wire and interior light sensor wires. I was told this is an extended cab issue no other models seem to do this.
