Service stabilitrac system indication comes on, with check engine light, and engine power reduced. Happens randomly, cannot find a "common cause" spent lots of money on PCM, BCM, memory seat module, battery cables, battery, brake light switch, etc. Etc. Dangerous condition when vehicle drops into power reduction mode.
I was in line at a drive through at burger king and as I pulled up to the cashiers window to pay for my food the engine started to accelerate. I put my foot on the brakes as hard as I could while the truck was shaking and lurching trying to go forward. I can't say for sure how high the tachometer was, but it seemed to almost peg for a few seconds while this was going on. Finally I jammed the transmission into neutral and the engine returned to normal idle. I say jammed because it took great strength to get it out of drive. For about 10-15 seconds this truck was totally out of my control. I drove away and parked for a few minutes to gather myself as I was visibly shaken..I was thankful that no one was in front of me in at burger king or that I was not in a parking lot somewhere where someone could have been injured or killed. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500. While driving 60 MPH, the rpms increased and decreased, the headlights flashed intermittenly, and that the entire instrument cluster with different warning sensors illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was driven home. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer was not contacted or made aware of the failure. Tl contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500. While making a right turn at 10 MPH, the contact stated that it smelled as if something electrical was burning. There was no smoke present. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the driver information center was not functioning properly. The failure also prevented the contact from seeing the trip meter, mileage and tire pressure. The dealer referenced a recall related to the failure, recall 08v44100 (electrical system). The current and failure mileages were approximately 54,000.

My "service air bag" light has steadily been on for a few weeks, checked the fuse, checked basic connectors (no loose wires). Have been doing internet research & found many forum discussions on this topic dating back to 2003! I searched this site & found that there has been no recall related to this issue. Considering once this "service" light is on, the airbags will not work in the event of a crash, why hasn't there been a recall?? I am definitely not excited about going to the dealer to see what they're gonna charge to look at the issue & then find out what they will charge to repair the issue, although many owners have returned to their dealers multiple times for the same "fix". This should be free of charge to diagnosis & repair considering it is a major safety issue!
