The contact owns a 2020 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to start, and the instrument cluster gauges were fluctuating. The contact stated that the failure had occurred after refueling the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had progressively worsened. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V639000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), and the contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. …
Dear NHTSA Safety Team, I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding my 2020 Buick Enclave (VIN: [redacted] ). Safety Impact: * Engine shuts off while the vehicle is in motion, creating a risk of collision. * Vehicle is my only mode of transportation. * Dealership has not provided a loaner vehicle. …
Check engine light was on due to the EVAP Purge Solenoid not sealing properly and causing a leak. Scan testing performed of the engine control module and diagnosed/cleared DTC P0496-00. Vehicle was brought to a dealership for repair.
I am submitting this letter to formally report two ongoing issues with my 2018 Buick Enclave. First, I have experienced persistent problems with the emissions purge valve. My vehicle has repeatedly triggered diagnostic trouble code P0496, indicating a malfunction in the purge valve system. I am aware that this issue has been the subject of recall campaigns for other Buick Enclave models; however, my vehicle has not been included in any such recall, despite exhibiting the same symptoms. This malfunction has resulted in persistent check engine warnings and noticeable performance concerns, raising questions about emissions compliance and the overall reliability of my vehicle. Given that other vehicles of the same make and model year have been recalled for the same issue, I respectfully request that my vehicle be reviewed for inclusion in the recall. …
The dealership is unable to identify the failing component or system. The vehicle shuts off while driving above speeds of 60mph, which causes the power steering pump and power brake pump to fail. This symptom of shutting off while driving creates a significant life safety risk for the driver, passengers, and other motorists. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership over 4 times in 3 months. Since the vehicle shuts off, there are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure.
On Thursday, 7/26/2018, I had parked my car in a restaurant parking lot. I appear to have pulled the vehicle up onto a concrete space divider. When I tried leaving the restaurant, I couldn't back off of the space divider, the car wouldn't move backward, so I tried pulling foreword. When the car came free from the divider, it shot foreword. Applying the breaks had no effect. In fact the car appeared to accelerate. I was headed directly toward a concrete building, so to avoid hitting the building head on, I had just enough time to turn the steering wheel slightly causing the vehicle to side swipe the building but it crashed into two parked vehicles. It caused extensive damage to my vehicle and one of the parked vehicles and only slight damage to the third. …
The engine, power steering, stabilitrak, and reduced engine power (vehicle would essentially die while driving at random times). My safety AND others were put at risk when I am traveling down the road/interstate and the engine just cuts out and am no longer able to accelerate to any speeds, causing me to have to pull over to the shoulder WITHOUT ANY ENGINE POWER. Yes, the problem has reproduced and confirmed with the dealer I purchased from. Vehicle has not been inspected by the above mentioned. Only had it inspected by the dealer I purchased the vehicle from. There were no prior lamps, messages, or other symptoms until it just showed up while driving one day. It happens at the same time as the engine loses power and acceleration. …
The vehicle began shuddering and losing power during normal driving. The issue occurs at various speeds, especially between 35-60 mph, and feels as though the car is slipping or will stall. A certified service center diagnosed a failing torque converter, which is part of the transmission/power train. The repair estimate was several thousand dollars. This failure poses a safety risk because the vehicle can suddenly lose acceleration or struggle to move in traffic. The service center confirmed the defect but stated there is no recall or assistance from Buick or GM. I have contacted Buick Customer Care and GM Executive offices with no response. The vehicle remains unsafe to drive.
