What owners report
Consumer states the truck was delivered with alignment problems, the steer tires were wearing badly and an alignment was needed, after about 60,000 miles the truck developed a shimmy in the front end and the right steer tire started cupping, the steer tires had to be shaved, the wheel bearings were adjusted and another alignment was performed, consumer states 6 alignments have been performed on the truck and the problem still exists and no one can seem to remedy the problem, the truck has also had 3 sets of shocks.
The truck had difficulty scaling under 12,000 on steer axle. Also front shocks failed. Consumer stated the truck needed an alignment at 65,000 miles. The drive line vibrated, the brakes squeaked, the cab shifted on the mount, the marker fuse light blew out, the right fuel tank shifted, there was a coolant, fuel and oil leak.
Serpentine belt keeps falling off. When it comes off vehicle overheats and can't be driven. Serpentine belt had to be changed 13 times. Premature steer tire wear. Over weight front axle . Leveling arm failure between axle, failed 3 times.
The vehicle was purchased new and the front steer axle weight exceeded the design fawr of the vehicle and north dakota's state restriction of 550 pounds per inch width of tire, Volvo paid for a modification attempt, after the modification the vehicle still exceeded the weight limits in numberous states, this is a design/engineering defect in the suspension system.
Our front end is unstable above 63 MPH. We also have a front end weight with full tanks of 13000 and a gross of 23000+. Seems a bit high compared to the 17885 they advertise for the brooks and dunn le. Dwight mcalexander of Volvo na has attempted to put this problem off onto the option as they speced the trucks for this limited run.
