In mid summer of 2021, my car overheated randomly without any warning driving down the interstate. I pulled off immediately and cut the car off but, it was already done. The radiator cracked as a result of the engine overheating. I had the car towed to my mechanic and he replaced the radiator. Since then I've been having a lot of check engine codes. It's now May of 2022, my car is still using and going through a lot of coolant. There are no leaks in the coolant. My mechanic recently said that the radiator fan is malfunctioning which is popping the check engine and also probably making the car overheat. I contacted Volvo dealership after seeing the recall on the radiator fan for my year make and model but, they informed me there is no recall on my car via the vin#. This week I've been watching not only the coolant level but also the fans.... …
Today I received a warning message that my low beam was out. I stopped in the auto parts store and bought the passenger side low beam replacement bulb. When I went to disassemble it I noticed that the wiring harness was burnt. I'm going to replace the wiring harness but this is very concerning. It's not old and just corroded it is actually burnt.
I wanted to bring to your attention an incident regarding a car fire, and resulting total loss of my leased 2006 Volvo V70. I leased the car on January 20, 2006. On Saturday afternoon, January 13, 2007, I was driving with my two young grandsons. We were just starting to head south on the charter oak bridge when I lost power. I was able to coast the car to a stop on the east hartford, ct side of the bridge. One of my grandsons shouted "I see smoke" and sure enough smoke was billowing out from the front end of the car. I told the boys, who were both in the back seat, that we had to get out now. I noticed that the car was rolling backwards and I pulled the emergency brake and the car stopped. We all got out and started walking away from the car, which now had heavy black smoke coming out of it and flames shooting up from the front end. …
2006 Volvo V70 2.5t, 100K miles. Ignition cylinder jams rending the vehicle inoperable. The internet is full of similar instances. A disabled vehicle is dangerous. The ignition cylinder is defective and should have been subject to recall years ago.
I was driving at about 35 MPH. When I slowed down to make a 90 degree right turn, without warning the engine and power steering went off as I was turning. I had to manually steer the car and luckily did not crash because there was no car in the opposite lane. I pulled over to the side of the road, restarted the car, and received no error message. I took the car to the local Volvo dealer where they could find nothing wrong and deny this is a recall issue.
Pulled into a parking spot on the street, put the car in park, but was unable to turn the key to turn the car off. It took me almost 20 minutes of jiggling the key around and spraying wd40 into the ignition cylinder before being able to very slowly get the key to turn enough to turn the car off. I am not a weak person and was honestly afraid that the amount of pressure I was applying was going to cause the key to break off in the ignition. I immediately took the car to the nearest Volvo dealer (cherry hill, nj) and since this happened on a Sunday morning, I had to leave the keys with an explanation of the problem on a dropbox form. When I called the service dept today, they told me that they would have to custom order a replacement part from sweden and that it could be a week before my car is repaired. …
