Ever since purchasing our Volvo, there has been power reduction and surges of which I've brought up to the dealership where purchased. My husband has asked what May cause this sort of thing because we didn't want it to be the transmission. We were told it was part of the way a Volvo works. The incident that LED to it having to be repaired was when we returned from an hour and half drive and pulled into a parking lot where the engine started revving continuously. A light came on the dash, esl. The only thing in the manual I could find was what the initials stood for-electronic throttle system. We were able to drive it home after short while because of a safety devise in the vehicle that allows this apparently. …

Hi - in April 2005 I had my car in for service just before the extended warrant expired in May. They mentioned this electrical problem but said it wasn't covered so I didn't do anything since I hadn't noticed a problem. The service mgr said it did not need fixed anytime soon and sent me on my way. In July I noticed that my car kept losing power on the highway (very dangerous i95 in ft lauderdale). I took it in on a Thursday for a diagnostic and they came back with a bunch of little things that totaled about $1500. I was thinking about a newer car so I asked if anything was urgent and they said no and sent me on my way again. I stopped back by the dealer the next day because the power windows quit working, they said it wasn't related and I made an appt to come in the following Monday to have that fixed ($210). On my way home, the etu light came on. …
I purchased this car used December 16 2016 knowing it needed a lot of work. I have since gotten all the repairs done on jan 4th 2017. I now need to get the car emission tested after driving 200 miles the readiness monitors are still not set and have since repaired the check engine light and still can not get an emissions test.
At time of fire, dash board indicator lights were on for light out and that car was in low gear, but car was not being driven in low gear. Additionally, air conditioner was on. No iindicator lights were on to indicate any other problems such as engine was overheated or low in any fluids. I attempted to shift through low gears to remove low gear indicator light, but that did not do anything. I put car in park and turned off the engine. When I turned engine back on, at first the low gear indicator light did not come back on, but within ashort distance the low gear indicator light came back on even though car was being driven in normal drive gear and no feeling that car was actually in a low gear.
