What owners report

Took my truck to a body shop to have dings and a few rusted spots on it repaired. The business owner and repair person put it on the rack and after examination, informed me that it was not worth the repairs, because the frame and undercarriage was too extensive and might as such cause safety issues. I chose not to have it repaired because of this issue.

I have a 1998 Toyota T100 with 143K miles on it. The frame is now broke under the bed near the front leaf spring shackle, beside a bed mount. The other side is also cracked bad and is about to break. I also noticed the cross-member that the carrier bearing attaches too is also cracked on one side and all but cracked on the other side. I called Toyota because I know they are doing the tacomas around the same year as well as the tundras. Toyota said that there is no recall or anything they can do. I know this is an issue with several other t100s and am very upset that they wont do anything with the t100s.

1996 Toyota T100 with approx 77000 miles, rarely driven, garage kept and well cared for, cannot pass safety inspection due to unusual amount of rust on frame, control arms, underbody components, rear bumper. Am concerned if vehicle is in an accident, it will disintegrate and cause bodily injury or death to driver and passenger, or if structure fails while vehicle is in motion it can cause harm to other drivers/passengers. Toyota left this model out of the recall but these are the exact same issues reported with tacoma and tundra of same model year range. Truck would run forever if not for excessive rust. You can do better Toyota, so do better.

I am a owner of a 1996 Toyota T100 with serious rust issues on my truck. I have been looking online and found that other owners have the same problems. There was a recall on other truck such as the tacoma. Why hasn't a recall been issued for the T100.

1995 Toyota T100 frame was rotted underneath. It was not reported even though it was regularly in a Toyota dealership for service (joseph Toyota of cincinnati). After being discovered, it was determined by a welder that the unsafe damaged parts could be welded and fixed and that the rust could be removed and completely recoated. This cost $1200.00. The Toyota main office would not consider a buy back or any other option, even though it was manufactured at the same time and place as the frame rot tacomas.
