The contact owns a 2024 Toyota GR Corolla. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the clutch burned out prematurely. Additionally, the clutch emitted heavy smoke, obscuring the driver's vision and road visibility. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the clutch was worn out and needed replacement due to normal wear and tear. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 16,500.
on [redacted] this vehicle lost power on the very busy interstate due to the clutch failing. this caused loss of power, and i had to exit the vehicle to push it to the side of the road while traffic was passing at 55+ mph. I could have very easily been hit either inside or outside of the vehicle and could do nothing to prevent this. other people could be injured due to the vehicle being stopped in the middle of the highway. this is due to a premature failing of the clutch liner. Toyota will not replace under warranty stating that it is a wear and tear item. there was no warning it failed, and it rendered the vehicle inoperable. Toyota diagnosed a failed clutch, at 20347 miles. this vehicle has not been abused and was driven to and from work only with 95% of the driving on the highway. the component is still in the vehicle but can be removed or inspected at request. …
