Takata recall Toyota motor corporation USA sent me a notice falsely claiming that the parts to fix my passenger side airbag were in stock. I called the dealer on 5/1/2017 and told them I wanted to get this recall done. I told the dealer the model and year of my car. I was told to bring the car in. When I arrived at the dealer, I was told that they did not have a part in stock that was necessary to perform the recall repair. The dealer further stated that the part was on back order and they did not know when it would come in. I called the Toyota motor corp USA national hot line for the recall and asked when the part(s) would come in. The representative did not know. I was put on hold while the representative called the dealer. …
Takata recall 16v-340: I was notified by Toyota that my vehicle was subject to the Takata airbag recall for passenger side airbags 3 months ago. The dealer indicated that a replacement part was not yet available and was unable to give me an estimated timeframe in which it would be available for replacement. I am concerned about the safety risk. The Toyota notification indicated that if I believe that the dealer or Toyota has failed or is unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable time frame, I May submit a complaint to NHTSA via this site, and so am doing so. Toyota is responsible for ensuring that vehicles meet safety standards and that when a safety concern is identified it is addressed in a timely and responsible manner. The manufacturer has failed in this regard. …
Takata recall. Toyota sent me arecall letter at the beginning of the year 2017 saying they had no fix and I shouldn't use passenger front seat. When I didn't hear from them again for several months I called their customer service and was told there was no fix for my car until December 2017. Any Toyota dealer would give me a free rental car. When I called the dealer I was told I would have to leave my car at the dealership and it would be parked outside with no shelter. I live in phoenix az and I know what the sun does to paint, tires, and even interior of cars. So that is an unacceptable offer. Since I really need full use of my car I called customer service again today, August 16, 2017. They still do not offer an acceptable solution. The recall letter stated that I could file a complaint with the htsa if I felt Toyota is unable to remedy the defect within a resonable time.
I was involved in an accident where a driver t-boned my vehicle on the drivers side, the drivers side door took the worst damage along with the roof molding, fender and quarter panel, state farm declared the car a total. I called Toyota and open a case because the air bag sensor number 3 in the owners manual in the drivers side door did not deploy,I sent Toyota 12 pictures with the damage and the door was the worse, the rep assigned to my case was in complete denial and said that sensor would not have deployed the airbag even if I were killed! He just washed his hands with my case and ran me around about the door sensor and why is it there if it doesn't work is my question. Should I seek legal council or just let Toyota off the hook? Don't think its fair to us consumers.
Takata recall we received the notice of recall last May (2016). We have received no other notification from Toyota or the OEM manufacturer (Takata). Given the potential severity of the problem, I do not consider this "timely" on Toyota's part and request they be encouraged to get this done. Please note that the recall notice advises us not to operate the vehicle with anyone in the front passenger seat. This is a significant limitation. I realize that the remedy can't be accomplished overnight but it seems like some progress should have been made in the 9 months since we received the notice. In all other respects the vehicle has been excellent and the two previous recalls were accomplished quickly.
Takata recall letter that we received from Toyota directed us to stop using the passenger seat in the car due to safety concerns, and advised that we would receive further instructions in April. It is now May and we have not heard from Toyota and the local dealership advises us that no remedy is available for us. We are not able to safely use the vehicle as a family, and we have no idea when or if we will be able to use the vehicle safely again. The vehicle is currently being used daily by driver only, and it is unclear whether the vehicle poses a threat to driver's safety.
I ran into a light pole in a parking lot on January 13, 2013 in kansas city, missouri. I was driving approximately 15 MPH, making a turn into pharmacy pickup lane behind the cvs store. The driver airbag deployed. I suffered 8 fractured ribs and numerous lacerations. I spent 4 days in the hospital, and @ 3 weeks in rehab. I lost approximately 4 weeks of work. I still have scars and necrotic bumps on my chest wall. Vehicle was a total loss. As far as I know it's in the landfill. I am begging only for no more recall notices to be sent to me.
Tl* the contact owned a 2009 Toyota Corolla Matrix. While driving 50 MPH, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a rail several times. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the neck, arm, and back that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. ..updated 11/02/15 updated 12/03/15, 4/3/18
Takata recall: the NHTSA attendant I talked to about airbag recall on 09 Matrix didn't seem to know anything about when it was to take place and told me to call Toyota. I need to have this fixed also Toyota doesn't have answer either! I can't afford a new car and you say this one isn't safe but what are you doing to make Toyota fix it?

NHTSA investigations
Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
