Owner reports
Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2007 Saturn Outlook owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that the air bag, the traction control, and the electronic stability control warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that after opening the liftgate with the power liftgate button, the liftgate unexpectedly lowered, and struck her on the head. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice. The contact had head pain, but medical assistance was not required. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failures to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 07V062000 (Air Bags) and 15V415000 (Structure); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.
I was driving my 2007 Saturn Outlook when the power steering went out and I went off the road hitting a culvert head on. The frontal air bags failed to deploy. The driver seat on impact broke off of the frame of the vehicle. The only thing that saved my life was my seatbelt. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and after they hooked it up to their diagnostics, they found that there was a mistake in the sensor codes. The code showed that the vehicle rolled over. The vehicle never did roll over whatsoever. Also the power steering pump was defective and later a recall came out informing owners of this. After research I found that previously there was a recall for a defective air bag module. This had been replaced. However the airbag still did not deploy during the front impact collision.
On january29 2019 I was involved in an accident and the airbags on the passenger side it did not open and the impact was on that side opened that one that opened what's on the driver side and there was a lot of smoke coming off-the- airbag coming up and I couldn't breathe the accident happened on the street
Just purchased myself a used Saturn Outlook. Happened to storm the night I purchased it. My car has a sunroof and moonroof. They are both leaking into my car. There are currently five airbag sensors that are no longer working and it is believed that the damage is being caused by the leaking water running along the side panels and down under the seats and into the battery area behind the passenger seat. I'm scared that this is will lead to an electrical shortage either at the battery area (its already corroded the connectors on at least one battery), my fuses, or worse. Since my daughter and I both have asthma, mold growth is a serious concern. And worse yet, failure of airbags causing death/serious injury to myself and/or my children and passengers. To see that GM knows there's a problem and is not doing anything to rectify it is absurd. …
The factory installed sunroof leaks rainwater into the interior of the car. It has affected airbags, sensors, electrical systems and power systems. If the car gets wet, the water travels to the electrical system to circuit boards and discharges the battery. The vehicle will die in traffic if water travels to the circuit board during driving. Airbags have evidence of water traveling through their assembly. Floor and seats are wet after rain, sprinkler, car wash, morning dew. Doesn't seems to be dependent on amount of water received. Battery tests fine on full charge. Alternator functioning correctly. Problem is directly related to sunroof leakage. Sunroof seal is not yet under recall. Yesterday, after a day of rain, the car had to be charged to drive to work. Drove 20 miles with no apparent power issues, but airbag sensors sent alert through the dash that airbags needed servicing. …
I was driving along and my dashboard went dark, you couldn't read the mileage, or any data that should show up in that window, the battery level showed lower then normal however stopped to have battery and alternator checked and both were working normally per mechanic. When stopped car and turned back on data was viewable, then airbag light came on - stayed on for about an 30 min. Then went back off. There was an issue with roof leaking - dealership had to repair and now I think this is linked to that issue. However, not sure if others are having this same issue and don't feel I should be held responsible for something that the dealer should have checked out prior to correcting leaking. Have there been any other owners with issues regarding this?
Passenger airbag will intermittently not enable with adults (>120 lbs) in front passenger seat. Prior recall for connector under seat was completed when issued. Dealer diagnosis of code for "passenger presence" module fail, with recommendation of replacement of passenger presence seat ass'y at cost of $960 - not yet completed. Elevated to GM customer assistance. Appears to be a chronic, ~500 ppm issue on the 2007-2008 model years of the GM lambda platform (Saturn Outlook, GMC acadia, and Buick enclave). Research of NHTSA complaints against posted sales quantities shows that this issue continues into 2015 for the 2007-08 models, with virtually no issues for 2009 and newer model year vehicles....updated 09/28/15 updated 11/08/2017
Bought this piece of crap car out of desperation from a pay as you go rip off car "dealership" who told me nothing about this cars faults and it's done nothing but bite me in the ass since then. Leaks like a stuck pig, causing water to pool at the floor mats, when its cole the inside of the windshield frosts. Headlights will both shut off while driving, battery died so I charged it then the radio went haywire. Opened up the battery terminal to find my battery was encased in ice due to the leaky sunroof, the battery was sparking and smoking. Windows won't go down all of a sudden. I can't wait to get rid of this car. Never again. So dangerous it's ridiculous.
At approximately 100,000 miles the service air bag light started to illuminate on the dashboard. Furthermore, the passenger airbag is always switched off regardless if there is someone in the passenger seat or not. Brought to dealer in June 2015 with mileage of 101,806. It is giving code b0081-of stating there is an internal fault in passenger presence sensor. Approximate cost to fix was around ~$1000. Declined fixing it at this time as I had already spent $2500 in other repairs. This is obviously an ongoing issue with many of these cars and is a huge safety concern....not just wear and tear. Please look into these airbag concerns.
I bought it used and its has been saying service air bags on the dash and the light that says ithe air bag is on and off mostly is in the off position which is located above the air conditioner panel. Also o. The dash its pops up the red picture of a person sitting in the front seats with an air bag in front of them facing the air bag. The light is starting to get stuck on meaning my air bag May not be working at all. I am driving when it comes on and now it is on when I start the vehicle meaning its not working correctly or at all. I think it could be involved with this recall about the airbag module. The recall number is 07V062000
