Takata recall I first received my safety recall notice in July 2016 and my second notice in May 2017. Both times I was informed that I would receive a call when the parts came in but the call never came and the repair never done. Yesterday I went beyond the dealership and spoke to a GM representative who also couldn't find any dealership in my area with the parts to complete the work. Of course at this point I asked for a "loaner" car since I haven't been able to safely put a passenger in the front seat for eleven months! Needless to say that request fell on deaf ears. Ironically, after all that, last night the car was "totaled" and I am grateful that the airbag was not involved in any injuries. My main point in notifying you today is to say that this has been a sorry excuse for a recall. No company should take eleven months and still not be able to repair the problem. …
2010 Pontiac Vibe struck vehicle that crossed into right of way of Pontiac Vibe at 25 to 30 miles per hour. Airbags did not deploy at dashboard nor did seat belt lock upon impact. Vehicle underwent airbag inflator replacement May 24th 2018 per recall #17477 parts 77204 as listed on repair invoice.
Takata recall. Company is not doing enough for customers to remedy the situation. Recall letter is July 2016, this has been 4 months without the use of my front seat. I've called both my local dealership as well as GM corporate and they are unwilling to provide a rental or loaner while I wait. They are literally robbing me of full use of my car. They are also unwilling to provide any kind of time table as to when parts will be ready. The company should provide a rental for such trouble since I have many time had to borrow a friend car when I need to carry more passengers as putting 3 people in the back seat is horribly uncomfortable and having 5 is now impossible. They are not fixing this condition in a reasonable time frame.
Driving in a light rain, I lost control at 75mph and hit the rear of a semi trailer. The car started to slide sideways and I pressed the brakes hard and the car began to skid. The skid continued until my car reached the shoulder, whereupon it began to roll. The car rolled a total of three times and came to rest on its wheels. Even though the roof and all four doors had extensive body damage, none of the airbags deployed. I was restrained by the seat belt but I feel that the airbags should have deployed. The car was totaled and sold for scrap.

Takata recall we received a recall notice in July of this year, stating that parts for our vehicle were not available. The recall also stated it was not safe for a passenger to ride in the passenger side front seat. We called our local dealer in December of this year, and were told parts were still not available. This vehicle is used to transport special needs children and young adults by our daughter, who works for midwest easter seals. Her job requires transportation of these clients, and not having the ability of the front passenger seat is a severe hindrance. We would appreciate any help to make this process go quicker. Due to the length of time and inconvenience of this recall, is there any way that she could obtain a loaner vehicle until this recall is satisfactorily completed? Thank you for your consideration.

NHTSA investigations
Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
