NHTSA defect investigations
Federal safety investigators have looked into 2 possible defects involving the 2007 Pontiac Vibe:
Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.

My vehicle is part of the Takata Airbag Recall. I had a light come on for the airbag on the dash but the passenger light remains working condition prior to the fix. When I had the fix completed the light was cleared and reset but still comes on after driving for a few minutes. My concern is that the repair in a situation like this is incomplete. The whole safety system is in default if a light is illuminated on the dash. Meaning New or Not my system on a vehicle made to last 100,000s of thousands of miles and regarded as such when maintened should not be ignored when it can save lives and should work properly for the life of the vehicle. They replaced my passenger side airbag but refused to do a diagnostic or repair on the rest without paying for it. …

There were two incidents. 1. I was pulling into a parking spot at a Walmart driving very slowly, to almost reach the parking sign when the vehicle revved and lurched forward. I had to put my full pressure on the brake pedal, and eventually shifted to neutral and the revving subsided. I turned the car off and looked at the floor mat, which was in its usual position, and did not seem to be interfering with the pedal. Since this had not happened before, I rationalize that perhaps my foot had been on both the brake and accelerator. But I did not notice that my foot had slipped at all, and it was definitely on the brake when the revving occurred. 2. Today, my wife called me to tell me she had experienced the same revving while she was parking.
Electrical system
2007 Pontiac Vibe has continuously produced a check engine light with code p0741-torque converter clutch. The vehicle acceleration is sluggish at times. This check engine light has come on at least 5 times, at which time I sent the vehicle to a GM dealer for repair. The vehicle was repaired twice under warranty and is in the shop a second time out of warranty for the same check engine light. Recently the GM dealer has been keeping the vehicle for at least one work week and has never produced any document showing any work was completed on the vehicle. Whenever I complete a longer trip I.e. 60+ miles the CEL will come back on. I am not getting a straight answer on what is wrong with my vehicle. I have been assured that all parts and labor related to this error code will be taken care of free of charge because the preliminary incidents happened under warranty. …
