What owners report
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact stated that the passenger side of the dashboard protruded out towards the front passenger seat. The contact was concerned that in the event of a crash, the front seat passenger could be injured. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Dash pad in vehicle has come apart, completely blocking passenger side airbag. The dash pad is sticking up at least 3 inches in front of airbag. If airbag does deploy ever it will not properly and could cause more harm to passenger and driver. When this first happened my car was only 4 years old. There are several reports online of this happening to these vehicles. I think all affected cars should be fixed, since it is a safety issue on pretty new cars.
The front of my dashboard (the airbag sits behind it) is coming off of my vehicle. It is on the passenger's side. I contacted the Mitsubishi dealer in charleston, sc and he informed me that he had seen numerous vehicles with the same problem (Mitsubishi). I consider this to be a safety hazard because once this piece of material falls off there will be nothing to protect the passenger from the airbag at any time. I was informed it would cost $1,200 to fix. The entire dashboard needs to be replaced. My vehicle doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it yet. I believe that having my vehicle in the condition it is in is very dangerous and Mitsubishi obviously didn't manufacture a good reliable product which is not only deceptive but dangerous. Please help me. Thank you!
I have a 2007 Mitsubishi eclipes gs. That has over 160,000 miles. For the last 9 months or even longer my husband has to push the passenger side dash board down where the airbag is to cover it back. No, I haven't took it to a dealer yet, I figure with the warranty off of the car, the dealer ship would say I have to pay to fix it. I have no money to fix it. So, I'm hoping that someone will read this and tell me that there is a recall on it so, it can be fixed the right way. I hope the passenger side airbag(dash board) works incase of a accident. I'm planning on calling the dealer ship Monday 10/24/2016 to get more information on the problem.
As with the early 2000's recall the paint (Clear coat) on Kalapana Black (Code X13) has started to peel off and Mitsubishi refused to address the issue. My vehicle has less than 75k miles and has been garaged most of its life as it is not a daily driver and I am the only owner. Mitsubishi recalled the earlier years but stopped it I believe in 2002 being the latest year but seems they continued the painting practices.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact stated that the lower part of the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle had split apart above the passenger air bag compartment. The contact took the vehicle to a local body shop and was informed that there were no recalls or defects on the vehicle. The contact was informed that if the vehicle were involved in a collision, the passenger air bag would not deploy. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.
Roommate driving my vehicle with myself in passenger seat. Struck a dear Monday morning at approximately 60mph. Vehicle was put into a ditch and rolled at least 1 time into a marsh on left side of the road. Vehicle received major: front, both side, rear and roof damage. Not one air bag was deployed.
On second day of ownership I heard a very loud metal cracking sound while sitting in the car preparing to drive. Car was not started or moving). Upon inspection there was no visible defect. About a week later I had an identical experience. This time I noticed a crack in the body seam located on the driver's side door. The door would no longer close properly , and I immediately scheduled a repair appointment. The dealership adjusted the door and assured me that the crack in the frame was only cosmetic. The crack was filled and painted and seems to be holding, but there is a leak in the door that leaves water on the door sill plate every time it rains or I wash the car. I am in the process of having additional repairs for that now.
