On November 28, 2015 my passenger front tire explosively failed coming out of a left turn at about 25 MPH causing my car to drop and swerve, crashing into a tall street curb and storm sewer drain causing $2000 damage to my car. The outer sidewall separated circumferentially from the tread. This premium tire was only seven months old with minimal wear. I check my tire pressure and fluids every time I buy gas, overhauled the suspension that summer and didn't believe it was my fault. I took the tire still on the damaged wheel to a tire failure expert who ruled out pre-existing damage, unusual wear or signs of driving with low or high tire pressure; he stated there was a zipper failure resulting from a bad tire. This was the second Goodyear assurance tripletred to fail on my car. I contacted Goodyear and filed a claim with their property claims team. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder equipped with Goodyear assurance tripletred tires, size p215/55r16. While driving 25 MPH, the front passenger side tire blew out and caused the contact to drive over a curb. The contact inspected the tire and found that the tire tread was separated. The manufacturer was unable to locate the cause of the tire failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 160,000.
I own a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder gt. I was in a relatively minor car accident. About 2 months ofter the accident and repairs had been made, one of my tires could not hold tire pressure. I had the tires replaced on the vehicle. The same tire continued to go flat. I inspected the factory 17" alloy rim and I found a crack in the rim. I inspected the other rims as well and noticed similar smaller cracks forming. I do not now if the cracks are due to the accident or due to faulty workmanship. A well made rim would not have cracked due to a relativley minor impact. Accident report on file hamilton twp police. Accident not caused due to failure of the rim.
Under normal driving conditions, tire began losing air. Took to the tire dealer and no tire problem was found. Two weeks later tire would hold no air, returned to the tire dealer and they found that the wheel was cracked and would not allow the tire to hold air. I had to purchase a new wheel and a new tire since riding on low / no air damaged the tire.
Damaged alloy wheels on Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder (17 inch, 6 spoke). I read the postings from last year tonight on your site after I had my second experience with this problem. Last winter I hit a pothole and it completely split my rim. The vehicle maintained stability and I was able to limp back home (about a half mile) but the rim was cracked all the way to the spokes from the lip. Tonight (snowstorm in va/dc area) my wife dropped me off at the office and went shopping. On her way to pick me up the tire suddenly went flat. She was able to limp into a service station where she noticed the tire would not hold air so she had to change the tire in snow/ice/freezing temperatures. Upon further investigation, there were three large dents in the rim at the lip. This is the second rim I am going to have to replace and they are not cheap (about $350 each). …
Car has about 30000 miles, owner went out to look at car this morning and found that front passenger's side tire is completely flat and rim is severely dented. Owner does not recall hitting anything that would have dented rim. Front driver's side rim was minorly dented on pothole about six weeks ago, suspected to have caused slow leak in tire, but owner was not going to report until second rim dented without apparent cause. Two rims now need replaced; neither front tire holds air securely. Both rims visibly damaged, incurring financial expense and causing distress to owner because incident happened out of town on christmas morning the day before she was scheduled to make eight-hour return trip to columbus from philadelphia, rendering the car undrivable. Tires might also need replaced if damage to them has occured. …
Tire tread separation on passenger car tires. Brand = kumho line = ecsta asx size = 225/40/r18 dot # = yomx yc2f while driving down the road, my son noticed rubber chunks flying from the front end of his car. When he stopped to check things over, he found that the tread of one of the front tires was separating right down to the base cords of the tire. The separation occurred on just one edge of the tread and was being un-spooled from the tire. I am reporting this so that it May be documented for future reference in the NHTSA database.
Front left tire continuously deflating, leading to rapid deflation because of a seven inch cut along the seam of the tire. Fortunately it happened at a very low speed and I was able to get off the road safely. I had just left the highway and was driving 70 MPH. Replaced all four tires.
