Re: NHTSA campaign id number : 98V323000* hello, fomoco local dealer & corporate customer relations insist there is no such recall as noted above. After several phone calls and visits in the last month, I call corporate. There too they insisted there was no such thing. I called a second time and was forwarded up the ladder, same results. The next week I received a questionare wanting to know of my satisfaction with my recent inquiries! If you could be of any assistance I would be deeply indebted. Thank you sincerely, [redacted] * what initiated this whole thing is that my care started clanking and a few other things. Took it to the les scwab dealer. He said my frame mounts went. My local mechanic confirmed it.
Tl contact owns a 1995 Mercury Sable. While driving at 5 MPH, the contact made a right turn and heard a loud noise. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that the right rear subframe mounting bushing had broken due to corrosion. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint; however, the manufacturer refused to assist with repair costs and stated that the vehicle was not included in recall 98V323000 (structure: frame and members). The contact planned to have the vehicle repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were 103,325.
Consumer heard cracking coming from floorboard while operating vehicle. Dealer diagnosed that the rear lower subframe is corroding. Related to recall 98V323000; but, consumer's vehicle not included due to VIN. Problem has gotten worse and consumer don't feel safe driving the vehicle.
Dt: the contact stated there was NHTSA recall o campaign 98V323000 concerning the structure: frame and members. However, the recall did not correct the problem. The vehicle had the same problems again. The dealer has been contacted. The vehicle has not been repaired.
Knocking and jump-shifting transmission during acceleration; knocking transmission during cruising after acceleration; roughing/scratching braking when applying brakes, pads/drums/discs are in the excellent condition. Speedmeter needle jumped to 85 MPH while driving 55 MPH once. Sturcture failure in the trunk, up/right corner had a crack which let rain water leaks in the trunk. My air condition gives mildrew/musky when use. My car was never in accident.
Recall 98 v 323 000/subframe corrosion: upon acceleration from a stop position, driver heard a clunk sound, and then the steering became difficult to steer. Dealer was notified, and informed consumer that this vehicle was not covered under the recall due to VIN. This vehicle is experiencing the exact problems as outlined in the recall. Consumer would like consideration for vehicle to be repaired as per recall.
Speedometer failed to operate after repairs were done in aug 1997 with 20,000 mile of wear. Dealer notified, and informed consumer repairs would be at consumer's expense. Also vehicle stalled and died while driving on the highway. In addition, dealer replaced transmission/ thermostat/multi-function switch/ map sensor/speed control sensor, and rear sub-frame mounts.
While driving, front coil springs broke, causing front end of the vehicle to drop. Lower rear subframe mount plate nut has been replaced. Fluctuating speedometer was replaced. Starter and wire harness have been replaced. Muffler and tail pipe have been replaced. 2 front coil springs and strut bearing plates have been replaced.
Frequent failure of analog speedometer. I have a 95 Mercury Sable that has it's third speedometer. First two replaced under warranty. It has failed again. I believe this to be an abnormal failure rate. I called a speedometer repair shop and they were very familiar with the problem on the 95-96 Sable and taurus.
