I was in a car accident in March 2016 and it was a front end collision. I almost went through the windshield however my seat belt didn't stop me or lock in place at all. I also contacted Mercedes in April 2016 about my driver airbag that was recalled due to safety concerns and I still haven't been contacted for a resolution as I have reached out to them multiple times for options because it's unsafe to drive my vehicle
Nearest dealership refused to complete the recall repairs. On March 6, during a moving traffic accident that totaled both cars, the air bags failed to deploy, resulting in injury to the driver (me).

Takata recall. I have been waiting patiently since February 2016, and every 6 months Mercedes Benz keeps delaying the remedy to this potentially fatal issue. My wife and toddler ride in this vehicle and I'm always in fear the airbag can deploy causing serious injury or death. How much longer am I supposed to wait for the parts to be ready while Mercedes Benz is making record profits?

Takata recall. I have been sent a number of notices that my vehicle is part of the Takata recall but that there are no parts available. Frankly I've been very patient but I am concerned for my safety knowing this dragging on for 2 years now. I drive almost 100 miles per day on major highways. I am aware that other manufacturers, of less stature mind you, are offering at no cost a substitute or loaner/rental vehicle until the parts are made available. I'm no longer willing to wait for this endless time frame for my vehicle to be repaired with the proper, safe, and updated safety item like an air bag. We're not talking about some sensor or a power window switch here. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle any longer.

NHTSA investigations
Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
