The contact owns a 2008 Lexus IS250. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the dashboard and the door panels melted causing the vehicle to become sticky. The vehicle was diagnosed and confirmed that there was a recall on melting dashboards, but the recall was no longer active. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
- The door panel and dashboard is melting under normal to warm weather conditions. Yes. - The rubber is degrading and coming off in pieces . I am concerned that inhalation or contact with this rubber material is a chemical hazard and/or carcinogenic. Also, the shiny sticky dash impedes my driving visibility with a constant glare. - Yes, Lexus offered a limited recall for 2-3 years only. I was never informed of the issue despite going to a Lexus dealership for another safety recall in 2017. - It has been inspected by Toyota but not Lexus. - The rubber began to noticeably degrade in 2019, however, it's likely it began earlier. The dashboard melting when the vehicle was in motion and stationary. Melting dashboard creates a glare in the windshield and makes it impossible to see when driving during the day. Additionally, toxic fumes from melting dashboard make it difficult to breathe when driving.
Dashboard and door panels are melting to the point that (short) nails get stuck every time we drive. Car is parked under a roof and it's still melting. Poor visibility due to shine.
Affected parts: -- dashboard & all 4 interior door panels -- my 2008 Lexus IS suffers from a well known issue among Lexus owners in southern states. The dashboard and interior door panels become almost playdoh like under normal use of the car. My dashboard IS extremely melted to the point that it becomes mirror-like in direct sunlight. This produces a white glare on the windshield, severly impairs daytime driving and makes the car liabilty to myself and others. Door panels that leave sticky residue on my clothing have to be babied so that they don't crumble or become even more marred than they already are. Since I'm just outside their warranty, the dealer declined to assist me financially and as of today corporate refuses to help other than to allow me to pay them out of pocket for something that should not even be an issue. …
When accident it get hot outside my dashboard starts to get soft and shiny and sticky.when it gets to that point in the middle of the day it creates a glare reflection on the front windshield that makes it hard to see. I try to bring this up to 3 separate Lexus dealership and the all of them don't want to take responsibility for the issue instead they accuse me putting some type of chemical over it which I have not put a thing over my dashboard or my door panels not even water. They don't really care about driving safety hazard for the consumer's safety, all they wanna do this just push us away and said it was something that we did or something that we put on the dashboard. And they claim that they have never heard about this issue before when I obviously do a search on the form a lot of consumers IS having this issue everywhere. …
My Lexus is350, 2008 has just over 40000 miles. The dash for about a year or more IS sticky. Driver side IS worst. Reflects into windshield making it hard to drive. I called Lexus several times with no help. Try water/ water and soap. Come in and let detailers look at it. Can't do any thing. Call Lexus dot com. Can't do any think. Never put any on dash as windshield IS too close to dash. The reflection makes it hard to drive in sun. Seems like dash glue IS coming up. Seems like maker should have a fix. Its getting dangerous to drive. Wanted to keep car a long time but don't know now. Scary.
My dashboard IS melting horribly. I have contacted Lexus on several occasions. I was told that I first needed to bring it the nearest dealership in my area to have to serviced and get an estimate. The service report stated that the dash was in fact melting and needed to be replaced. I followed up with another call to Lexus and was informed that it was out of warranty and that it could not be replaced. I indicated that issue IS by far not a warranty issue but in fact a defect in the material used to make the dashboard. The visibility on the driver side IS horrible and quite dangerous.
My 2008 Lexus is250 passenger side windshield bracket clip break off, when I drive at a high speed I can hear the noise that the wind tapping against the windshield. Because the bracket clip IS broken, so it will not hold the windshield frame down. I affair that it will come off and hit someone behind or people on the side walk if someone happens to be jogging. When I look at it, it seem that the bracket IS poorly design. The car at this age should not happens if the design IS look carefully. I never see like this before, even my truck 300,000 mile the windshield bracket still strong.
