Owner reports

Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2016 Kia Sedona owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

Our Kia Sedona had the cooling fan harness negative Cable melt and caused making our engine overheat. When we took our vehicle to get serviced they told us that the cooling fan harness melted and then it's a common problem with kias. They fixed the pigtail cooling fan harness but are cooling fan does not turn on anymore and they said that it is now an electrical issue and this was from a Kia dealership in Dodge City Kansas. They recently did a recall on sliding doors because they weren't shutting all the way and it worked for exactly one day after the recall and now it's back to not shutting and making a really loud noise when it attempts to shut. When this happens we can't lock our doors because the doors won't lock when doors open and we have to constantly shut off our interior lights so that they don't stay on because the doors don't shut. …

2016 Kia Sedona with power sliding doors. Both rear power sliding doors fail to completely latch upon closing. Doors make loud clicking sounds while attempting to close and require manual pushing to latch. Kia of Attleboro diagnosed and confirmed in writing that both rear door roller arm assemblies are completely missing the roller, and that this condition is contributing to the latching failure. Both power sliding door motors and rear door latches also need replacement. This is a safety hazard as the doors may appear closed but are not fully latched, posing a serious risk of doors opening while driving, particularly with children as passengers. The condition has been confirmed in writing by a Kia dealership. …

Vehicle's paint has been peeling off or delaminating specifically near ALL the window glasses. The worse affected area which has started getting rust spots. Below and above the sliding door glasses have started peeling off and starting to show primer or under layer as well as below the back door window. I have only gotten quotes for temporary solution which would be to paint current affected areas. But after researching many articles online, this seems to me a common issue people have been complaining not only on these areas my vehicle has. So I am thinking this might happen to other areas of the vehicle which would require a full repaint job.

The sliding power doors no longer function properly. The door closes, and immediately unlatches. The door can be forced closed, but can and does then unlatch while driving. Kia of Cape Coral confirmed the doors are not latching properly due to the door motors. Kia agrees the doors are covered, but refuses to remedy the issue until the motor is unable to move the doors at all.

My White Kia Sedona Van's paint is flaking and peeling off all around the vehicle. This is not due to poor car of the vehicle or accident due to making contact with any other vehicles or objects. It is literally just falling off of the vehicle. It started about a year ago and is getting significantly worse.

The vehicle caught on fire while parked in the driveway and burned to the ground. We contacted Kia motors regarding this. It took them weeks before they sent out a representative to inspect the vehicle. Upon inception of the vehicle they simply denied that the engine fire was caused by faulty parts and declined responsibly for the it!

I own a 2016 Kia Sedona lx. Vehicle is stationary. I began having problems with the driver's side sliding door not latching when closing a few months ago. The thing is, I rarely ever use that side for loading or unloading. More times than not I use the passenger side (curb side) door. When the door is attempting to latch, it makes a very weird sound like it is groaning. It closes, but does not latch properly. According to the dashboard, the door is still open. I took it to the original dealer and they said I need to replace the motor and cable at a cost of over $700. I've also had a fuel injector go bad $580. These situations make me wonder about your "reliability" statements. I found a technical service bulletin (sa-210) relating to sedonas, 2015~2016 model years, group bod, number 116, dated November, 2015. …

Both of the sliding doors on my 2016 Kia Sedona do not close completely when used in automatic mode. They do not latch properly and the "door open" light as well as all interior lights remains on. I have to physically push the door shut in order for it to latch. The door also makes a loud noise when attempting to close. This occurs when stationary and on any type of ground (flat, hill, etc) one door was repaired by the dealer but the second door started having this issue after the warranty expired, unfortunately.

The side door does not close all the way and makes a loud noise. We brought it in for this before about 3 monthis ago and it started doing the same thing again. I have read many complaints about this. The door is not over used. Now the vehicle has 43000 miles on it and it is out of warranty. We have 4 children and are afraid for their saftey with a door that does not close all the way. I feel if it was fixed right the first time there wouldn't be a reoccurring issue. Thank you.
