What 2007 Jaguar XK owners say
Speed control & acceleration
On at least 3 occasions, my vehicle had unintended acceleration and applying brakes did not stop the car. I put it in park to stop. I took it to the Foreign performance (mechanic shop) on 11-29-23 after the first time and they said they fixed it. It occurred again on 12-8-23. I again threw it into park. I called the shop on 12-11-23 and they agreed to see it on 12-12-23. I hit a car on 12-11-23 around 11:45 am coming out of my driveway. I had my car towed to mechanic. The other car did not need to be towed. On 12-20-23, Foreign Performance wrote: "Vehicle is driving normally at this time. Checked for any set faults, none stored. Tested the function of the accelerator pedal and the throttle body. Both function normally. There are no bulletin issues by the manufacturer for this problem related to this vehicle. …
In the evening of 10/12/2006, within one day of driving a newly purchased 2007 Jaguar XK, upon starting, the vehicle raced independently between 6 and 8,000 rpms uncontrollably. This "runaway" car event could only be ceased by shutting the car down. The vehicle was returned to the Jaguar dealership immediately the next morning with details of the occurrence. On 10/13/2006, the service manager at crown Jaguar, john schnepp indicated that he had reported the incident to Jaguar and had been informed by Jaguar that the vehicle was released with defective software and that there had been at least two other dealerships that had reported the problem already. He indicated that he was instructed to upgrade the onboard software for the purchased vehicle to the most current release. We asked what were they going to do with the other 6 or more other vehicles that they had in inventory. …
Electrical system
Jaquar 2007 xr xenon headlights (bilateral!) bulbs within headlamp case actually fully melted. Caused a small contained fire, while car was pulling out of driveway. Driver witnessed this & called for tow after containing rt side fire inside headlamp..brought in for service...ordered new headlights....waited 1 month for parts to come from uk....couldnt drive car---no lamps available at night...Jaguar ruled car driveable while awaiting parts...driver disagreed for safety reasons. One month went by, headlamps, bulbs replaced....called jaquar said I was 1 st serious headlamp defect.
Vehicle is equipped with a keyless start option. On two occasions within 3 days, the car would not stay running when the start button was depressed. On each occasion, after 5-6 attempts at starting the engine, each time the engine would stall when the transmission was placed in either d or r. After waiting approximately 5 minutes, the car would start and operate normally. Both times the vehicle was driven to dealer service and each time the technician would note "no problem found-could not duplicate problem." in both instances, technician reprogrammed all keys. In the second instance, the technician replaced the batteries in all keys. The problem has not recurred.
