Tune up does not last for more than 1 year. It is completely destroyed even when everything is replaced brand new. It is a huge fire hazard. Everything is cooked like a furnace. Mechanics are not willing to put the effort in doing tune ups and repairs. I do a tune up on the Car once a year. I memorized every mechanical problem on that car, just so I can keep a sharp eye on all the problems.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Jaguar s-Type. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the rear brakes seized without warning. The contact noticed the parking brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the parking brake control needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
Initially while being parked in dec. 2014, I started the car but could not release the electronic park brake. I had to drive it to a mechanic 3 miles away with the brakes smoking. They saw a procedure for resetting the park brake and gave me a copy. All was well for 2 mos. But driving along about 30mph they suddenly locked. I was able to pull over and fortunately had been carrying tools for this and performed the procedure. It happened two more times in 2015 after I was stopped with engine off. I called Jaguar and they said there is no recall, but I have been afraid to drive it long distances and do not want to sell it as it is a serious safety concern. Jaguar offered to look at it but I know all about that and what it could cost, especially when it does not always happen. Note: see enclosed documents for 2004, but I have supposedly a 2005 with this issue.
I was driving, and I smelled smoke so I decided to pull over. Upon closer examination I discovered that the smoke was coming from the garage door opener, which I never use! When I touched the cover for the garage door opener it was hot. Within a few minutes my car was filled with smoke, and a small fire began to burn in the top center console containing the garage door opener. I opened all the door windows, and also the sunroof to clear the interior of my car of the smoke. I managed to put the fire out by taking a sip of water from a bottle, and spitting it on the fire!
While driving the vehicle will come to a complete stop. There has been a recall on this vehicle but this problem continues to exist intermittently. It has been in the service department several times to correct the problem. This automobile has cut-off while moving which caused another vehicle to hit the rear causing damages to the rear bumper.
On 10/03/09 while driving on high speed highway (had driven approx 150 miles) at speed of 65 MPH my engine suddenly stopped. I paid to tow vehicle to my home authorized dealer. Found that fuse for fuel pump had blown. Mileage was 35,896. Again on 03/21/10 while driving approx 60 MPH on I-695 (had driven approx 160 miles) my engine suddenly stopped. Mileage was 37360.towed vehicle to same authorized dealer who found that fuse for fuel pump had blown. Between the first failure and the second failure the vehicle was driven only 1464 miles.both times I was on high speed road in heavy traffic and nearly hit in read trying to get off roadway. Dealer can't find cause for blown fuse and suggested that remove gasoline tank to check wiring but only if I pay for it. I think dealer should investigate it because this is not normal wear and tear. …
Had just retrieved car from dealer service. Within 10 blocks, car's brakes engaged and car skidded to stop in center turn lane (lucky me that I was not rear-ended). Dsc and park brake lights were illuminated. Moments later, flames shot from right front engine compartment between hood and fender. Exited car and called fd and jag service mgr for tow truck. Experienced burning eyes and inside of lips peeled next day from acid burns (burning pvc emits chlorine gas or hcl gas that is corrosive when wet - as in eyes and lips. Jaguar na not responsive to any degree to date - want my company to file insurance claim for damages. Ins adjuster provided opinion that it was just electrical fault from either: alternator ran away; or ABS solenoid overheated; or fuseblock shorted; or voltage reg. Shorted. All were apparently damaged beyond recognition. Initial estimate to repair set at $20,000. …
