What owners report
The ABS light, ESC light, traction control light and AWD light all illuminated. The dealership tried twice to diagnose the problem, but could not locate any codes for it. The third time the issue arose, the dealer decided that there is an issue with the ABS sensor. The vehicle is a 2008 Veracruz purchased in May 2009. I was told that the vehicle was just past the warranty period and that Hyundai would not cover this item. It appears that this is becoming a common problem with this vehicle, as there have been at least 15 complaints on the NHTSA site and many more listed in the Hyundai forums online. Please investigate this issue and see if a recall is warranted. Thank you.
ABS and ESC lights are on. Was told it was a ABS sensor/hydraulic issue. The part is $2500 the dealer says. I found several other complains online about 2008 Veracruz having this issue. The car only has 50,000 miles on it.
Vehicle alternator went, something in driveshaft broke, causing vehicle to go right on its own into telephone pole, sir bags didn't deploy. Recalls are out on these issues but no one has covered vehicle loss and loan.
ESC off, AWD, and ABS lights lit up on the dashboard. While driving in traffic, the vehicle suddenly died and lost electricity and had to coast the vehicle to the side of intersection, while not having power. Eventually able to restart the vehicle and drive again. Happened 2 more times where the vehicle died while it was being driven. While driving it to the dealer, noticed the speedometer was not working. Dealer found a bunch of codes for wheel sensors and eventually determined the issue was an ABS hydraulic module, which costs over $2000 just for the part itself. I researched through several Hyundai forum websites and it appears this is a chronic issue with this vehicle as other owners have had the same problem. Due to the cost of this part and the safety issues involved with driving the vehicle, I would suggest it should be part of a recall. …
ESC light came on, gear shift will not come out of park, drive or reverse unless gearshift release button is pushed. ESC light being on results in shifter not moving, no brake lights, no reverse light at any time. This recall was made in 2009 was repaired and the same issue has returned but Hyundai will not fix it because the recall is closed. It is campaign 092 stop lamp replacement. This problem affects brakes and brake lights so while driving other drivers have no idea when you are stopping or slowing down. This is extremely dangerous. The fact that it has been recalled once fixed and is doing the same thing again should mean another recall and different fix for the vehicles. Hyundai was notified yet refuses to fix it because it has already been fixed once. We were told to have it fixed and we could possibly receive a refund. …
ABS, AWD and ESC lights coming on and staying on at 90,000 miles. The issue is a faulty rear wheel speed sensor. Dealer wants $1,200 to replace the sensor! They claim the sensor cannot be replaced without replacing the rear axle. This is a terrible safety issue to have over an inexpensive sensor. It is ridiculous that the axle must be replaced to replace the sensor.
