What owners report

Almost right after purchasing the vehicle, I started experiencing electrical problems. The alarm system would randomly go off and sometimes even lock the doors of the car on it's own. Whether the car was running or not, windows open or shut, did not matter. Later the windshield wiper motor burned out so only the fastest setting works and only when I hold the knob up for the one time wipe. The window motor went out on the passenger side as well. If you were to slam or hit the door, the window will roll down, but not back up unless you pull very hard on it to get it going. The power steering has also began to go out. There are times when it will not stop squealing while I turn the wheel and it is almost pulsing so I can only turn the wheel in tiny increments at a time. The steering squeaks the most when the wheel is turned all the way.

My 2004 Hyundai Tiburon suffers from a long list of electrical problems. Both power window motors have stopped working, my power trunk latch is defective, the interior light switch doesn't work, and now the turn signal relay that is part of the body control module has caused intermittent problems with my left turn signal. Sometimes it stays on even after turning off the car. I'm worried I May be rear-ended because although my signal is on, it sometimes does not flash properly due to the faulty BCM. Research indicates these are very common issues with Hyundai vehicles, and very expensive to repair. The BCM is about $700 alone. The window motors are about $300 each. It is ridiculous to pay $700 for a signal light. Hyundai should be held accountable for shoddy engineering!

In the 23 months I have had my car I have had all of the following replaced: 2 batteries, 3 alternators, a feul pressure regulator, a gasket valve, a manifold, a catalic converter, a 3 transmissions (4 if you include the transmission that was in the car when I bought it). I bought the car with 26 miles on it. The very first weekend I had the car the alternator and the battery both had to be replaced. I have put 66,000 miles on this car, but am still dealing with all the problems because the transmission they put in there a couple weeks ago is still making noises. I also had to replace a faulty tire that came on the car, at first the dealership told me I bent my rim, but I took it elsewhere and the tire was bad.

I have had problems with my Tiburon since I got the car most of the things have been covered by warranty. November 17 2001 the car had 2486 miles on it the alarm started going off while I was driving down the highway. I got it turned off about 20 minutes later and for the next two days the alarm kept going off for no reason. Nov 20 I couldn?t get it to turn off at all so I took it to the dealership. The said a wire shorted out and fixed it at no cost to me. In December of 2002 the drivers side door started sticking and one day I came out of work and it wouldn?t open at all I took it in to the dealer they said the door was falling off and that they replaced a latch at no cost to me. The car was at 17642 miles at this time. The day before my appt for the door I was driving and all the sudden the radio just went off and wouldn?t come on. They had to replace the radio also at no cost to me. …

The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer who replaced the charcoal canisters twice and the failure recurred in which there were strong fumes that emitted into the vehicle. The rear passenger side wheel bearing was replaced, the ignition switch was replaced more than once, and the key was still not communicating to turn over into a start position without several attempts. My seatbelts get twisted or won't extract or retract 99 out of 100 times. I have had my headlights burnout numerous times and keep having to replace them. They need to be replaced every 2-3 months and it is at my expense as the dealer states it isn't covered under my warranty. One usually blows and then a week later the other side follows, this only happens with my low beams. I will turn my ac on and it will either run hot or if it runs cold at all it only stays cold for a few minutes. The dealer stated it wasn't covered under warranty and wouldn't even look at it. I have had my front driver's side tire lose air and blow out the first time about 3 times now. I have had to replace the tire each time and have bought different manufacturers. The dealer stated it May have something to do with the car. …
