When I started my 2022 Honda Pilot Special Edition (VIN: [redacted] ) in a parking lot, the vehicle immediately behaved abnormally. As I attempted to turn into a space, the car unexpectedly accelerated and moved in an unintended direction. Despite pressing the brake pedal firmly, neither the standard brakes nor the automatic braking system responded. Shifting into Park did not stop the vehicle, and the transmission did not engage to hold the car. The vehicle continued moving through the parking lot, striking property and other vehicles. The entire event felt like a loss of braking and control, with both the brake system and gear selector failing to function as intended. This was a sudden and dangerous incident that could have caused serious injury. …

I was operating a 2022 Honda Pilot and had just made a left turn into a parking lot. I was slowly pulling into a parking space directly in front of a dance studio with a large floor-to-ceiling window. There were four children and a dance instructor standing inside near the window. As I was coming to a stop to park, my foot was on the brake. At that moment, the engine suddenly revved loudly and the vehicle accelerated forward unexpectedly without any additional throttle input. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms before this occurred. Despite braking, the vehicle continued forward and struck the exterior of the building. I was able to avoid the window area where the children were standing. The airbag deployed, and the front passenger side of the vehicle was damaged. The building was not structurally damaged, and no one was injured. …

My 2022 Honda Pilot failed to engage Drive after reversing, despite the Drive button being pressed. This resulted in an unintended backward motion & a collision with another vehicle. 1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned...? The Electronic Transmission Shift-by-Wire system (push-button shifter) failed to respond to a gear change request. Additionally, related electrical systems including the dashboard infotainment system & the integrated USB charging ports have malfunctioned. The vehicle & its components are available for inspection upon request. 2.How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle experienced unintended motion. While attempting to move forward in a parking lot, the vehicle remained in Reverse despite selecting Drive. This failure led to a low-speed collision with a truck's tow hitch. …

I came to a complete stop at a red light. The car went into neutral and shut off completely. In order to restart the car, I had to put it in park to completely restart it in traffic. This same thing has now happened multiple times and each time it does, it comes shortly before the battery fails and will not start the car at all. I have been through 3 AGM Platinum batteries in the past year. Something is draining the battery. The starter, alternator and auxiliary battery have each been tested in the course of taking the vehicle to 3 different auto mechanics before going to the Honda dealership. All of them said these components tested fine (and they were tested under load). Honda acted like they didn't know about this being a common problem and suggested we replace the starter as an experimental remedy. …

The front windshield camera is causing the brake system error light to come on and triggering the safety system to malfunction. This failed camera system disables safety features and causes lane assist, cruise control , lighting features, back-up camera, driving assist, and the collision system to be disabled, causing a major safety concern. This front camera system has failed and has been diagnosed by the Certified Honda dealer that my vehicle was purchased from. My vehicle is 4 years old and has 35k miles, and the system has failed. Each component was inspected and issues diagnosed by the dealer. The warning light first displayed on the dashboard and showed as a "brake system" error light. …

Unknown. I took it to a local shop and they did read the codes but were unable to find camera or fix anything. I have 5 warnings that all came on one after one. Can not be cleared. We reset battery and a few simple fixes that didn't work. Following warnings: Auto high beam problem, lane keeping assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, and collision mitigation system problem. I was driving on a smooth road with no issues and nothing happened, they just started going off one at a time. We have an appointment with Honda dealer on Tuesday September 29th 2026 to drop off to get checked out. I took it to my local shop on 9/24/26 with in an hour of it happening. Picked my car up from That shop on 9/25/26 they checked it out and said it was safe to drive but not something they could fix for me. …

The car has auto idle. It is the default and operates anytime the car is started unless you specifically push a button (each time) to turn if off. Starting about a year ago, the car battery seemed sluggish and then when I was driving if I stopped at a stoplight, the car would completely die and I had to restart it. Thinking it was a battery issue, I had a new battery put in on 10/15/25. But the issues have continued. Just recently, the car has twice died when I am at busy stoplights which could have easily led to me being rear ended. I have to put the car in park and attempt to restart it. It sometimes reads that the battery is dead, but then will start after a couple tries. I am taking it to my Honda dealer today, but they have already said "it's probably the battery - which is less than a year old and has a four year warranty.

My pilot is suffering from the known safety defect where the engine stalls and force shifts into neutral during Auto Idle Stop. The dealership advisor handed me Service bulletin 23-010 admitting my vehicle matches the exact failure criteria. However, they are refusing to cover the failed starter motor under the warranty extension, even though Honda's own technical documents state that the starter failure is a direct consequence of the low cranking torque and the tight engine valves. I need a corporate case manager to open an urgent case and issue a goodwill authorization to cover the starter the 23-010 valve adjustment. We have purchased 8 Hondas in the last 15 years, service has been a main reason for our return but after the experience today I'm not sure we can continue. The problem is a hazard.

I brought my Honda Pilot 2022 AWD on September 2022 with Captial Expressway Honda, San Jose. Since then, my Honda Pilot went dead twice in less than a year. The first time was in December 2022; I had Geico jump my battery. The second time was in June 2023; my Honda Pilot went completely dead with all the error codes. The incident started on June 25, 2023; I was on vacation for 3 weeks and returned with a dead car. The lack of customer service and the unprofessional Yvonne Liao at Capital Honda blamed me for not driving enough. She stated that the Honda Pilot must drive more because the computerized system drains the battery. Instead of admitting manufacture defect and recall, Yvonne blamed the customer for not driving enough and started arguing with me.
