1. I had just left the house to go to work. I pulled out on to the main street where a normal amount of rush hour traffic was staged. Additionally, road work was being done, so vehicle speed was very slow. I coasted forward about 10 feet and placed my foot on the brakes. When I did nothing happened, it did not stop. In addition, the idle raced slamming me into the vehicle in front of me. Damage was done to my truck bumper, but not to the van in front of me. Also, a couple of weeks ago I was driving down the highway when the brakes went high and hard and the brakes experienced total failure. Fortunately, the late afternoon rush hour traffic had afforded me an opening to the right. I turned the key off and drifted over. Many people could have died that day had I not had god and quick reflexes.
In November of 96 consumer was driving during icy conditions. Driving approximately 40 MPH and tried to stop the vehicle, lost control, went into a spin and slid off road into a revine. Prior to losing control, consumer pressed the brakes, the pedal went to the floor but did not lock. On four other occasions when approaching an intersection and began to brake, the pedal went to the floor and the vehicle went past normal stopping distance.

I had problems with my 1995 GMC windshield wipers working intermittently, and one day,on my first day back to work as a teacher,it rained horribly and the wipers wouldn't work. I paid a lot of money to Firestone to get them fixed. Now I read there was a recall and never received any info. And have lived at the same place for 18yrs.. Sewell motors in dallas,tx sold me the vehicle in 1995.

The remote oil filter adapter on this vehicle is made of aluminum and the mounting bolts are steel. Any kid that passes science class can tell you that these two metals together will cause a bi-metallic reaction that will severely and quickly corrode the aluminum, which it has. This corrosion has caused the mounting holes on the adapter to flake off and now only a small portion of the mounting bolt/nut is holding the assembly. Eventually, the mount will completely fail and the adapter May fall into some moving engine part or onto the road. This could sever the oil filter hoses and possibly spray oil on the hot engine which is a fire risk. This oil filter adapter should be made out of materials that are compatible and will not corrode from bi-metallic reaction.
