What 1999 GMC Passenger Vehicle owners say

Transmission & drivetrain

While passing at highway speeds the transmission failed. I was forced to either take to the ditch, run the guy off that I was trying to pass or have a head on collision. I took to a ditch to save my family and others. I had the transmission serviced at the dealer on 12/9/2003 and no problems were found. The transmission failed with no warning on 1/5/2004. Both a road side transmission shop and the dealer agreed that there is an ongoing problem with these transmissions. The problem is with the "sun shell" failing. There is currently a revised part in production for incorporation but no recall to cover the consumer.

The transmission started slipping and went out on this Vehicle with only 61,000 miles on it. I wrote to GM about it, and they did not respond to my complaint. The fuel pump also went out on this same Vehicle at 51,000 miles. GM is building vehicles of very poor quality and getting premium prices for their vehicles. I am tired of buying American built vehicles and getting junk.
