What 2005 GMC Envoy Xuv owners say
Fuel & propulsion system
For the past few months when I turn on my truck the airbag light turns on and stays on for a few hours stating that it needs service. It happens every few weeks and it can be very dangerous. If I were to be involved in a car accident the air bags May or May not deploy. I had taken it back to the dealership where I purchased the truck to take a look at it and they said it was OK, that I must of passed a bump too fast causing it to turn on, but it has been quite a while and it continues to do the same thing. I guarantee no bump would cause a air bag light to turn on and malfunction. As if that was not enough of a problem in the beginning of this month (March) I started having trouble with the gas gauge. At first when I would fill it up it would read empty and would register about 30 minutes later to the correct level. …
Our 2005 GMC Envoy has always had a faulty fuel gauge and has caused our family to be stranded a few times without gas while travelling far from home. We took it into a GMC dealer who wanted $ 950 for parts and repairs. We just dont have that kind of money. GMC has always been aware of this problem and has not offered to fix it nor have a recall on this faulty gas gauge. 856,000 GM suvs under investigation for faulty fuel gauges federal regulators are investigating 865,000 general motors suvs, including the 2005-?07 Chevrolet trailblazer and Buick rainier, for faulty fuel gauges that are inaccurate. The 2005-?06 Chevrolet trailblazer ext, the 2005-?07 GMC Envoy, the 2005-?06 GMC Envoy xl and the 2005-?07 Saab 9-7x are also affected vehicles being investigated.
Electrical system
Driving on interstate 91 south, glanced down to see my speedometer indicated I was traveling 75 miles perhour let off the accelerator to decrease speed when I realized the vehicle behind mine had to pull around my vehicle to avoid hitting mine in the rear. Several miles later I discovered my speedometer indicated I was traveling 120mph although keeping up with traffic. As I pulled of highway and hit my brakes the speedometer decreased in speed, although when at a complete stop speedometer indicated I was traveling 30 MPH. This causes some concern since I only have 41,119 miles on my 2005 Envoy Xuv. I contacted GMC and was told there was no recall on my vehicle and scheduled a service appointment with a GMC dealer to figure out the problem. This issue after some research had been an ongoing problem and find it difficult a recall has not been made for this issue. …
The speedometer has gotten stuck at 120 MPH & will not reset... This has happened off & on & I was usually able to reset the speedometer by turning on and off the vehicle several times... But now, it has officially stayed at 120mph. I am unable to tell how fast I am actually driving. I know GMC had similar issues with their Chevrolet vehicles - & that resulted in a class action lawsuit to have them issue a recall.... I would really like to see a recall on this... It is unsafe to drive this way!!
Windows, wipers & sunroof
Both of my windows which slide down with the push of a button do not work! They have both busted. One is stuck down. The other I have to shove up because while driving from the vibrations it falls. Very unsafe. They both stopped work while I was operating them by pushing the button for them to slide down. I have not replaced them yet. Its very costly. Its hard to believe no recall has been done. I have found many other complaints regarding this.
