Dt*: the contact stated while the vehicle was parked a bubble on the sidewall was noticed on the inner rear passenger tire. After the tire was changed with the spare, the vehicle was taken the dealership and the tire was replaced. Also while parked, there was sidewall separation noticed on the inner rear driver tire. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and the remaining 5 tires were replaced. These were Goodyear 23580rr17 tires.
Dt: on July 6, 2005 the tire blew out without warning. There was no road construction or road damage. There was no accident. The tire was purchased new on July 1, 2005. The trailer that the tire was on was custom made by a manufacturer. The trailer is a two wheeled trailer. It was the tire on the driver's side that blew out. It is an enclosed tow trailer.
I bought the 04 Nissan maxima in December 2004, and in September . 2005 I took the car to have the tires rotated. I was informed by the local Goodyear tire dealer that two of the tires had cracks in the sidewalls. Because the car had only 10,000 miles Goodyear replaced these two tires under the original warranty. Now, in 2007 with 40,000 miles on the car the other two original tires have sidewall cracks. Of course Goodyear will only give me credit for the wear left on the tires , and a new tire cost $300. We have decided for safety reasons we were not going to replace these tires with the Goodyear Eagle size 245/45r18v. This seemed to be a similar problem as Ford and Firestone had with the explorer several years ago. Why has the public not been informed about the Nissan/Goodyear tire problem. My conclusion was fewer of us own missing than fords. …
Complaint received via e-mail.") I exchanged the 4th tire off my pickup. It is a Goodyear lt235/80r17 with many side wall open wide, cracks. It was done at west tire, 4000 hwy 281 north,, marble falls ,tx78654 phone 830/693-0475,,fax 830/693-0602. It would be nice if you would impound that casing for your examination and fact finding. There was no accident or hard hitting a curb involved , it just appeared the tire had 10./32nds rubber left of 15/32nds and was discovered at an oil change, surely these many failures are worth examining."
While traveling at 50 the right front tire slightly touched the gravel on an uneven parkway, and caused the driver to lose control of vehicle, the vehicle flipped and crashed. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy. The passenger was killed. When the tire left the road the consumer turned the wheel back to the left to get the vehicle back onto the road. The vehicle fishtailed in the rear and collided head on into the concrete culvert, flipped end over, and rolled upside down into a ditch. Neither air bag deployed. The consumer was told the size of the wheels should be redesigned due to the chassis. (the change of the center gravity caused the vehicle to be unstable)
Rims unable to balance. I have had a jerking of hopping feeling ride from new purchase. Gunn Dodge in sa dealer in said it was the drive shaft and replaced still same feeling. Moved to austin maxwell dealer said it was tires. I had all four replaced and maxwekk said Goodyear put four new bad tires on truck. B.s. I say it's the 17 inch rims. Had rims check and was told they seem too far out of spec because there are heavy balance weights on one side of rim and there are none heavier to counter balance the effect. Now why did Dodge dealer say it was the drive shaft and tires. When I kept saying look at the wheels at the service station. Nothing but a run-a-round and when I call Chrysler they say that is how the truck is meant to ride. Lies and big business cover up. Dodge must be giving someone in our government big bucks under the table to let these trucks enter our roads un safe. …
Tl contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram quad cab. While driving approximately 45 MPH the drivers side wheel studs broke off causing the rim and tire to come off. The failure caused damage to the fender, door and the bed of the truck. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic. The mechanic replaced the rotors, tie rod ends, a caliper, track bar and wheel studs on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a body shop for the fender, the cab corner and the truck bed to be repaired. The failure happened again on December 13, 2010. The passenger side wheel studs broke off again causing damage to the rotors, tie rod end, track bar and wheel studs. The vehicle was towed back to the same mechanic who replaced the rotors, tie rod end, track bar, wheel studs and aligned the vehicle. The contact had not contacted the manufacturer. The VIN was unavailable. …
On my way to work, as usual, on a "slightly" bumpy part of the highway my steering wheel and front end started vibrating so violently that I almost lost control. I could barely hold the steering wheel; and could not steer at all; all I could do was start braking and come to a stop. I got out and checked my tires and front end and everything appeared normal. I continued to work at about 40 MPH (I had gone to work early so no traffic) . At 8:00 I called my local mechanic and took it to him to check out what happened. He check everything and nothing showed. The next day it happened again; then again 2 days later. About 2 weeks later I took pickup in for regular oil/fuel/air filter change service. He test drove with me along and I explained further what happened. He said he has seen it before with Dodge 2500 & 3500 and it has been labeled the "Dodge death wobble". …
