On certain passenger vehicles, the camshaft position sensor May melt resulting in a burning smell and visible smoke, which May subsequently lead to the melting of the camshaft cover and the camshaft position sensor wire harness.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. A wiring harness, located beneath the carpet in the front passenger floor area, can become damaged by passenger traffic as the wire harness is rubbed against a body seam in the floor panel.
Remedy: Dealers will reposition the wire harness and attach it permanently in a location where the wire harness cannot be damaged. Owner notification began February 6, 2001.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with alloy wheels. These wheels were manufactured without the steel bushing inserts around the wheel bolt openings, allowing friction between the wheel bolt seats and the wheel bolts. This can result in the bolts loosening during hard braking.
Remedy: Dealers will retorque the wheel bolts and will update the owner's manual wheel bolt torque specification.

Tl contact owns a 2000 Daewoo Lanos. By researching the NHTSA website, the contact noticed that his vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign id number 04V357000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and they stated that they would not repair the failure under the recall; therefore, the contact would be responsible for the $400 repair cost. The vehicle has not been repaired and he has been unable to reach the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 64,000 and current mileage was 68,000.
Consumer received NHTSA recall 04V357000 concerning cam shaft position sensor. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repairs and the dealer refused to honor the recall. Mechanic informed the consumer that the cam shaft position sensor was not defected. Recall states engine light came on, and there is a metal burning smell. Consumer was driving on the highway and vehicle parked facing the oncoming traffic. Vehicle turned on its headlights, causing the driver to swerve. The vehicle turned over and ejected the driver. Upon impact airbags failed to deploy. Currently, the vehicle is being recalled by the manufacturer for defective airbags. Campaign id number : 02V131001.
Recall 02V131001 concerning air bag deployment. Consumer took vehicle to dealer for recall repairs, and informed the dealer that the air bag light continued to illuminate. The service technician determined that the illumination of the air bag light had nothing to do with the recall. Consumer was devastated.
Brakes
Manufactor/dealership will not honor the warranty on the car and blaming the car troubles on tire rotation faults, it does not state in my contract tire rotation but have kept up on the tire, oil records. The engine is shot and transmission. The brakes system could have caused me to get into a serious accident. The complaints on the car are a serious concern and need to be dealt with. No one seems to care about the safety of the Daewoo Lanos car help me.
Upon accelerating, vehicle completely shuts down without warning. Dealer has indicated that problem occurs due to battery which has been replaced, but the problem continues. Consumer states that engine makes a noise, check engine light comes on, and vehicle stallsand not able to restart, vibration from steering wheel, wiring harness re-poisoned, battery replaced, and brake squeaks and light comes on.
