Update to case 11444012 I replaced the 2 tires and Goodyear inspected my other tires and said no problem selling 3 year old tires. Now another one of these tires is cracking. I have removed the tire and it's a clear defect causing cracks and bubbles. 245/75R16 111T SL WRL AT ADVENTURE OWL Tire failed on the inside side wall while the Van was parked for about 2 hours. Tires were purchased in 2019 but has a built year of 2016. AAA service inspected the Van and could not locate reason for issue. I also examined Ring video footage during the event and did not see anything near the Vehicle at the time of the event

LT245/75R16. Driving north on I-77 around Charlotte, NC around 7:40 PM and the tire blew out. I saw in my left rearview mirror the treads roll off the right side of the highway. I did not run over anything. Travel speed was 65 to 70 mph in medium traffic. No warning lights came on. Did not lose control and was able to navigate to the left side of highway when enough space opened up after a guide rail. All that was left was the rim and shredded sidewalls. Tire was installed in August, 2025 and had just about 3000 miles on it when the blowout occurred. The passenger side of the vehicle was about 3 feet from the fog line, and traffic for the exit ramp was very close to the vehicle. Called 911 and NCDOT helped remove the rim and put on the spare. My wife and daughter were in the vehicle.

Both rear tires veerubber taiga h/t size lt 245/75r16 dot # 6msg-ch had become unserviceable due the inside side wall belt plys separating rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate. The tires were replaced on 5 mar 2021 with new copper stfr solarus lt245/75r16 through mavis tire which had installed the taiga tires mentioned above on 21 May 2020. This is unacceptable for these ties since they only approximately 15000 miles on them and they had a service life of 45000 miles. This issue came to light when we were operating our van on a highway traveling at approximately 60 miles an hour.

Dt:the contact stated the left rear tire developed a bulge within the tread. He brought the vehicle to an independent repair shop, and they replaced the tire with a spare. When he returned home the vehicle was taken to a Firestone dealer, who discovered there was a complete belt separation on that tire. A second incident later occurred on the left front tire in a similar fashion. Both of the failed Firestone tires were replaced with Goodyear tires. While driving the right rear remaining Firestone tire blew out at 75 MPH resulting in damage to the vehicles fender and bumper area. He avoided any collision. He took photographs of the extensive damage. No further repairs or corrections have been made at this time. This is a Firestone steeltex r4s lt245/75/r16 load range e. These were the original tires on the vehicle at purchase. Update 12/27/2005 - the tires were made in Canada.

Updated- the consumer struggled to maintain control of the vehicle, however he did managed to bring the vehicle to a safe stop.

2001 Express · Tread/belt · 56,000 miles · Nov 2005

The valve stems on three of my tires were malfunctioning due to improper design of the stems. The problem only occurs at highway speeds. At 70 MPH I was loosing as much as 15 psi of air in only 10 miles. The air was leaking around the outside of the valve stems because of their improper design. This problem is very dangerous because there is no indication that it is occuring until the tire(s) goes flat, which, if it occurs at highway speed, could easily result in an accident. I was lucky and saw that my tires were almost flat when I stopped for gas. The improperly designed valve stem has the following lettering on it: schrader USA tr 600 hp 150.
